Moving Assistance
Individuals who are moving into a home they are leasing on their own often need help moving to their new place. This help can range from packing up their belongings to loading and unloading boxes and furniture to driving a moving truck. Sometimes people need financial assistance to hire professional movers to help with this process, especially when they have lots of heavy and/or fragile items or have to travel a long distance. Other times, people may be able to use volunteers to help with these tasks. The resources identified below represent a mix of both options. In addition, individuals might rely on people in their own circle of support for help, and could use an electronic “sign-up app” such as Sign Up Genius (www.signupgenius.com) to quickly reach out to multiple people in their circle and ask them to sign up for different moving tasks.
