Catholic Charities helps or assists in the prevention of homelessness and the cut-off of essential utilities. Assistance is given on a first-come first-serve basis. Those who are eligible for assistance must be seen in person at the Catholic Charities emergency assistance office. Households must have a late rent or eviction notice or a utility cut-off notice in their name. Catholic Charities expects households to raise a portion of the money towards the bill and provide proof of other payments and/or pledges. Catholic Charities is the last payer on the bill and provides referrals to locate matching funds.
