Our Daily Bread
Areas of Assistance: Emergency Rent (one-time assistance), Fairfax County, VA, Financial Counseling, Security Deposits
Our Daily Bread provides qualified Fairfax County area residents with a one-time grant that is paid directly to the service provider (e.g. landlord, utility company). Financial grants are intended for an emergency payment toward housing, utilities, auto repair, or medical assistance. Limited financial assistance for security deposits. The funds ODB provides are most often part of a "package" of funds that the social worker requesting funds puts together by receiving pledges from two or more sources to cover an entire bill. Individuals agree to attend a financial workshop as a condition of receiving assistance.
Our Daily Bread offers a free budgeting class every month in different locations around Fairfax County. Check their web site for dates and locations of classes and contact Marcelle Miles, Financial Literacy Manager, Our Daily Bread at 703-273-8829 to register. In addition, Our Daily Bread offers a six-month financial mentoring program for motivated clients, and a free Financial Counseling Clinic most months of the year. Our Daily Bread, Inc., has arranged credit education classes in partnership with Fairfax County Human Services and the Homeownership and Relocation Services Division of the Fairfax County Department of Housing and Community Development.
